Who should pay for the bridesmaid dresses?
In the US, Britain and Canada, it is tradition that bridesmaids are expected to pay for their own dresses, shoes and jewelry (if necessary) for the wedding day. But every wedding different, so there is no absolute answer of this question, it all depends:
- If the price of bridesmaid dresses is higher like $400, brides should cover all or most of the cost, or choose a dress that’s reasonably priced, or consider letting you choose your own.
- If there is only specific color palette or length requirement bride gives, bridesmaids could choose their individual dress style at their price, d bridesmaids should foot the bill.
- If you served as a bridesmaid to one of your bridesmaids, do the same, just mimic her wedding etiquette.
- If the wedding is destination wedding, and brides pay for your lodging and airfare, bridesmaids should pay for the bridesmaid dresses and others. But if not, then brides should cover the cost of bridesmaids’ outfits for her wedding.
